Review by ashref haddeji

Alexander the Great is an album by the late American singer-songwriter Arthur Alexander that was released posthumously in 1992. The album features 15 tracks that showcase Alexander's signature blend of soul, R&B, and country music.

The album opens with the upbeat and catchy "Go Home Girl," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Other standout tracks include the melancholic ballad "Lonely Just Like Me," the bluesy "In the Middle of It All," and the soulful "Show Me the Road." The album also includes a cover of Bob Dylan's "You're a Big Girl Now," which Alexander puts his own spin on.

Alexander's smooth and emotive vocals are the highlight of the album, and his songwriting skills shine through on tracks like "Love's Where Life Begins" and "Anna (Go to Him)." The production on the album is simple and understated, allowing Alexander's voice and lyrics to take center stage.

About Arthur Alexander

Born: May 10, 1940, Florence, Alabama Died: June 9, 1993, Nashville, Tennessee Arthur Alexander was a southern soul/ country soul singer who was one of the first to record at a prototype Muscle Shoals Studio. In fact, the money from the hit "You'd Better Move On" enabled to properly develop these studios. Alexander never really made a splash as a singer: especially, after suffering health problems that forced him to retire from the music business in 1975. A 1993 comeback album was well received by audiences and critics alike, but a comeback tour was cut short by his premature death from heart failure in its early stages. Despite having a few minor hits, Alexander is better known for other people's versions of his songs. The and The owe a debt to this singer from Alabama, USA. His tragic, harmony-laden 'Anna' was covered on , and 'You Better Move On' appears on EP. Other artists who've sung Alexander-penned songs include . Also, 'If It's Really Got to Be This Way' appears on and 'Every Day I Have to Cry Some' on . Alexander sings in a soft, low crooning style somewhat akin to .
