Afghan Whigs, The - Rot

Review by Diego Armentano

The Afghan Whigs' album Rot is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece that showcases the band's raw emotional power and musical talent. From the opening track "Gentlemen" to the closing number "Miles Iz Dead," the album takes listeners on a journey through the dark corners of the human psyche, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption.

The album's standout tracks include "Debonair," a brooding rock anthem that features Greg Dulli's soulful vocals and Rick McCollum's searing guitar riffs, and "What Jail Is Like," a haunting ballad that builds to a powerful crescendo of drums and strings.

Throughout the album, the band's musicianship is on full display, with drummer Steve Earle and bassist John Curley providing a solid foundation for the band's intricate guitar work and Dulli's emotive vocals.
