Review by Shugo Nozaki

Zoot Sims In Hollywood is a classic jazz album that showcases the virtuosity of the legendary saxophonist Zoot Sims. Released in 1957, this album captures Sims' unique style and his ability to effortlessly blend the bebop and swing genres.

The album features Sims' impeccable saxophone solos, which are backed by a talented group of musicians, including pianist Lou Levy, bassist Leroy Vinnegar, and drummer Stan Levey. Together, they create a cohesive sound that is both smooth and energetic.

One standout track on the album is "East of the Sun," which features Sims' soulful saxophone playing and Levy's dynamic piano accompaniment. Another highlight is "Gone with the Wind," which showcases Sims' ability to improvise and play with a sense of freedom and spontaneity.

Notes

Recorded Los Angeles, CA, July 16, 1954, Deep Groove. Different from other release listed. This has the correct Spelling of (ZOOT SIMS). The other release listed here has no back slick and has (ZOOT SIMMS). Which has the double MM which is incorrect. Logically the incorrect pressing came first and then was corrected but that is speculation.
