Tumblack - Tumblack

Review by Revista Costos

Tumblack's self-titled album is a stunning showcase of the band's musical prowess. The album features a blend of African rhythms, funk, and disco, creating a sound that is both unique and infectious. The musicianship on display is exceptional, with each member of the band contributing their own distinct style to the mix.

The album's opening track, "Caraiba", sets the tone with its upbeat tempo and catchy melody. The percussion is particularly impressive, driving the song forward and adding a sense of energy and excitement. Other standout tracks include "Funky Town", a funky disco number that will get listeners dancing, and "Tumblack", a slower, more introspective piece that showcases the band's versatility.

What makes Tumblack stand out is their ability to blend different musical styles seamlessly. They effortlessly combine traditional African rhythms with modern disco and funk, creating a sound that is both timeless and fresh. The result is an album that is both enjoyable to listen to and thought-provoking.

The original rip comes courtesy of the now sadly defunct amonsieurwillyworld blog and he did indeed leave out the third track, Jubilé, because of the spoken word! While it is frustrating beyond words, it is important to remember that without his efforts, none of us would have even had the pleasure of hearing this all time afro-cosmic classic at all.

Just for the record, the album was produced and arranged by the legendary Yves Hayat of French space-disco Droids fame) - Paco Rabanne was involved with the publishing side of the album.

Tumblack is a rhythm from Guadeloupe played on their drum called "ka". I remember my big brother teaching it to my lil bro when I was still achild, this brings some memories back !

A inserção de outros componentes que não sejam percussivos torna-se quase desnecessária... são meros adornos. Que suinque foda!!!!
