About Traffic Rare Bird
English rock band whose members came from the West Midlands. The group formed in April 1967 by , , and . They began as a psychedelic rock group whose early singles were influenced by and diversified their sound through the use of instruments such as keyboards like the Mellotron, reed instruments, and by incorporating jazz and improvisational techniques in their music.
After disbanding in 1969, during which time Winwood joined , Traffic reunited in 1970 to release the album John Barleycorn Must Die. The band's line-up varied from this point until they disbanded again in 1975, although a partial reunion, with Winwood and Capaldi, took place in 1994.
In 2004, Traffic was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Mmm, that sweet sweet taste/smell/feeling of marijuana. Peace.
Thank god for steve winwood
I still love this song, it never gets old.
Such a brilliant tune, you don't even notice there's no guitar in the whole song
I love this band.
"God, how much talent do you want to put on Steve Winwood?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
Got the "John Barleycorn Must Die" album used at a college sale, like 1976? Still one of my favs. "Empty Pages" still blows me away every time I listen to it.
Now once, I was in Mr.
Laird's class, and Mr.
Laird was using Mrs.
Bitner's radio, which was a portable Sylvania
AM/FM radio.
It was tuned to WMMR, which also played mostly progressive rock music.
"Who's that, Mr. Laird??" a student said.
"Well, who do you think that is??
That's Traffic!!!" Mr. Laird said.
"Traffic is very good!!!
Dave Mason also played in that group!!! I've got a couple of their albums, and a lot of other albums as well, too-
the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Chicago, Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Carly Simon, James Taylor, a couple Cream albums, Loggins and Messina, I've got some Rod Stewart, the Jeff Beck Group, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Steely Dan, Leon Redbone, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, the Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Santana, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Moody Blues, Procol Harum, the Kinks, the Byrds, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, the Electric Light Orchestra, Janis Joplin, Canned Heat, and I also have some folk music that's in my record collection!!" Mr. Laird said.
"Jim Beam, from his new album on WMMR.
Jim Beam is a very promising new guitarist on the rock scene these days.
He's very much in the style and tradition of like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, and Roy Buchanan.
Great new rock guitar hero that Jim Beam is these days, let me tell you.
Whoa, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, is that man ever, ever great on that gee-tar of his he plays!!
This is Paul Horn!!"
the radio blared out.
Then, a Paul Horn album cut started playing, which was progressive jazz flute music, which sounded like easy listening.
"WMMR plays easy listening," I said to myself.

one of my faves. I remember discovering this back in 72, in high school, I copied a lot of the licks from the electric piano solo also.
Groovy and powerful
Capaldi's drums melt me every time
He was only about 20 when they did this all time great album. A true genius from an early age.
I’ve never heard this
Skinny Hippie boomer chicks dancing in p-nut jeans!!!
A uniquely contemporary piece in 1970. Steve Winwood (vocal and keyboard) and Jim Capaldi (RIP) on drums were brilliant. A year when so much good music came out, a lot of which has stood the test of time and remains relevant in 2022
They don’t make em like anymore !!!
When Dave Mason left Traffic that didn't stop Winwood to continue with his band, that shows how professional Steve is.
