Review by Pripa

The Tower Recordings' album The Futuristic Folk is a masterpiece that showcases the band's unique blend of psychedelic rock and folk music. The album features an eclectic mix of instruments, including guitars, drums, banjos, and even a violin, which all come together to create a sound that is both haunting and beautiful.

The album's opening track, "The Galaxies' Incredible Sensation," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its dreamy, otherworldly sound. From there, the album takes the listener on a journey through a variety of different sounds and moods, from the eerie and unsettling "The Leprechaun" to the upbeat and catchy "The Hanged Man."

Throughout the album, the Tower Recordings display an impressive range of musical talent, seamlessly blending different genres and styles to create a sound that is entirely their own. The lyrics are equally impressive, with the band exploring themes of love, loss, and the mysteries of the universe.

  • This is, I guess the same pressing as the Time Lag set. It has individually painted / lettered covers and came in an edition of ?30. I bought this from one of the band's shows in Dundee 2004 from Erika.
  • There's no info on tracklisting, which is, as for the standard time lag release.

About The Tower Recordings

The New York-based Tower Recordings debuted in 1995 with the self-released Rehearsals for Roseland Circa '95, a sprawling 28-song set highlighting their eclectic, noisy sound and tape-manipulation aesthetic. The following year, the group -- comprised of multi-instrumentalists Matthew R. "M.V." Valentine, Helen Rush, PG Six, Spanish Wolfmann, Robert Henry Jones III, and S. Freyer, Esq. -- returned with Fraternity of Moonwalkers, issued on Audible Hiss; another label change, to Spirit of Orr, followed prior to the release of 1997's Planet T.R.
