Great :)
All the nonsense about Pete Best "not fitting in" is just that, nonsense. Yeah, he had his own look and was no conformist but that is what the fans back in those clubs loved about him - he was mean, moody, magnificent. He stood out. He was by far the most popular member of the group then and had he not joint the band the Beatles would have never made it. No Pete, no drummer for the tour of Hamburg, and without him they would not have become Liverpool's top nightclub act, and they would have died off like the hundreds of other bands around then. I'm not saying he was the most talented member. He wasn't. John and Paul proved to be. However, without Best and the attention he brought the group between 1960 & 1962 they would have never got thar far!
I LOVE PETE!!!
Stu Sutcliffe would not have stayed with the Beatles even if he had lived. He only went with them as a favour to his friend John and because he felt it made him look cool. Clearly after a few months pretending he could play he was already moving away from the group back into his art work. John was sad to lose him from the band even though he knew Stu couldn't play, but as long as Stuart was happy then John was happy. Paul was also very happy because Stuart's lack of musical skill was winding him up and additionally with Stu out of the band Paul could then become John's right hand man again. Pete had been picked up simply because the group needed a drummer for Hamburg. Ringo often sat in despite being with Rory Storm so the Beatles already new him very well. In many Hamburg shots they all look starving with young George looking positively anaemic. The well fed shots are from Liverpool.
merci trop bien superbes photos!!!!
It's so clear in every photo that Pete Best didn't fit right with the rest of them. I notice that in a lot of photos, the other three were in sync enough to look at the camera together, while Pete is often looking in a different direction, with a sour face. And Stuart Sutcliffe always looks like a ghost. If he had lived, he could have been The Beatles Roky Erikson/Syd Barret/Brian Wilson guy who loses his mind around the time of Sgt. Pepper.
always LOVED this tune by the early Beatles...great rare photos, thank you ~
George is one of my fav Guitarists without a doubt
Just wish George wrote a few more of these jabs. Actually quite good.

Where are the Kaempfert photos?
0:19 Damn look how younger George looks compared to everyone else. I can see why John was hesitant about letting George join
On this day in 1964 {May 30th} "Cry For A Shadow" reached #1 in Australia...
