About Tomita, Isao Tomita & The Plasma Symphony Orchestra
Japanese composer, arranger and synthesizer player. Born in Tokyo in April 22, 1932. Died May 5, 2016, Tokyo, Japan.
He wrote the theme music used by the Japanese gymnastics team in the 1956 Olympics. He has written the background music for "The Life Of The Flower (1960), "The Heaven And The Earth" (1969), "The new Tale Of Heike" (1972) and "Kaishu Katsu" (1974). In 1973 Tomita established "Plasma Music".
On July 30, 1980 it was announced that Tomita was to be the first president of Japan Records.

Tomita Grand Canyon Suite Grofe 2. Painted Desert is jazzy spacey and nice. This one Modern jazz on THOSE ELECTRONIC CHIMES. This is Tomita's best remake on Grofe's "Grand Canyon".

If Tomita's interpretations of classical music bring color to the compositions, this is probably the most colorful he ever created. Years ago when I first heard this album on vinyl, the opening sequence brought tears to my eyes. I was so blown away that I had to go and wipe my tears and blow my nose. I have been a life-long fan of Isao Tomita and have heard everything ever sold on RCA in the USA (of his.) I love his work and will until the day I die. TY for sharing this lovely recording. Astonishing music.
Tomita in remaking Grand Canyon Suite Grofe Sunrise is great. HOWEVER,the worldbeat rhythm track dub - TERRIBLE! If Tomita can redeem himself- take the world beat dub OUT. It's terrible.

I once saw the sunset at the Grand Canyon, and this describes it. Perfectly.
This is a superb interpretation of Grofe's masterpiece. Tomita at his best.
