Review by Carla Pugliese

Tom Lehrer's album is a classic masterpiece that has stood the test of time. The album is a collection of witty, satirical songs that poke fun at various aspects of society. The songs are cleverly written and performed with great skill by Lehrer himself. The album is a must-have for anyone who appreciates intelligent humor and satire.

The album starts off with the classic song "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song is a hilarious take on the idea of urban pest control and the absurdity of trying to control nature. Other standout tracks on the album include "The Masochism Tango," "The Elements," and "National Brotherhood Week."

Throughout the album, Lehrer's wit and clever lyrics are on full display. He takes on everything from politics to religion to science, and does so with a wry sense of humor that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. The album is a true gem that deserves to be listened to and appreciated by generations to come.

While he was an undergraduate student, majoring in mathematics at Harvard University in the 1950s, he began to write and perform comic and novelty songs to amuse his friends. In 1953, while teaching mathematics, Lehrer self-produced and released his first album, , on his own label Lehrer Records. He soon gained a cult following and toured the US, Europe (especially England), and Australia. After a brief stint in the army (1955-57), Lehrer returned to Harvard to teach and pursue his doctorate. Musically, "Songs By..." was followed by a live album, , and a studio album, , both released in 1959. In the 1960s, he wrote songs for the US version of the British satirical TV news program, "That Was the Week That Was
