About Teddy Huffam
U.S. keyboardist and lead singer Teddy Huffam (1936-1991) founded the gospel group "The Gems" at Richmond, Virginia in the early 1970's, and recorded their first album in 1974.
The group's breakout song "Gone" was released in 1978. It peaked in the top 5 and remained in the top 40 for over two years and was Teddy's signature song.
From 1977 to 1980, Teddy Huffam and the Gems were finalists at the Dove Awards, and in 1981 won in the category 'Traditional Black Gospel Album of the Year' (now known as 'Traditional Gospel Album of the Year') with their album "Incredible."
