Beast Moans, the second album by indie rock supergroup Swan Lake, is a haunting and introspective work that showcases the talents of its three members - Dan Bejar (of Destroyer), Spencer Krug (of Wolf Parade), and Carey Mercer (of Frog Eyes). The album is a moody and atmospheric affair, with lush instrumentation and evocative lyrics that delve into themes of love, loss, and existential dread.
From the opening track, "The Freedom", with its dreamy guitars and ethereal vocals, to the closing number, "Are You Swimming in Her Pools?", with its haunting piano melody and sparse instrumentation, Beast Moans is a journey through the emotional landscape of three talented musicians. The album's standout tracks include "All Fires", with its driving rhythm and soaring chorus, and "A Venue Called Rubella", a brooding and atmospheric ballad that showcases Mercer's distinctive vocals.

- Beast Moans was recorded in February and mixed in March, 2006. Some of the music was recorded at Dead Wood studios in scenic Shawnigan Lake, and some of it was recorded in Sun C studios in Victoria, British Columbia. Additional summing and mixing was done at the Hive Studios. Mastered at Grey Market Mastering in Montreal, Quebec.
