Review by Takudzwa Mutyavaviri

Starbuck's album "I Got To Know The Slower You Go The Longer It Lasts" is a soulful and introspective collection of songs that showcases the band's musical prowess and lyrical depth. From the upbeat and catchy "Moonlight Feels Right" to the hauntingly beautiful "Lash Larue," the album is a testament to Starbuck's ability to create music that resonates with listeners on a deep level.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Slower You Go (The Longer It Lasts)," a poignant ballad that explores the idea that taking things slow can often lead to a more meaningful and lasting connection. The song's heartfelt lyrics and gentle melody make it a truly unforgettable track that will stay with listeners long after the album has ended.

I don't think these boys chose their name by chance. This song came out at exactly at the right time of the year (Oct ' 76), but was poorly promoted by Private Stock records. You can feel the frisky deerish holiday spirit in this song if you listen closely with your heart even now. Long live STARBUCK!

getting ready for high school 1976 a New York Radio Station playing this song for this New Jersey Girl...smell of coffee and English muffins..mom serving me breakfast..remember hearing this song..loved it...I guess through all the music...I am helplessly old school and proud of it!
I REMEMBER SEEING STARBUCK PERFORM THIS SONG ON "MIDNIGHT SPECIAL" IN THE SUMMER OF 1976 WHEN "MOONLIGHT FEELS RIGHT" WAS RIDING HIGH ON THE CHARTS. I NEVER THOUGHT THEY COULD MATCH THAT SONG'S PURE POP BRILLIANCE BUT I QUICKLY LEARNED OTHERWISE. GROUP LEADER BRUCE BLACKMAN HAS FRONTED SEVERAL BANDS, BEGINNING WITH ETERNITY'S CHILDREN IN THE LATE 1960s (CHECK OUT THE AMAZING "MRS. BLUEBIRD" AND THE HEARTBREAKING "ALONE AGAIN") AND THEN IN A SOLO PROJECT CALLED KORONA (CHECK OUT THE AMAZING SINGLES "LET ME BE" AND "DON'T YOU KNOW HOW TO LOVE A LADY"), THEN A GROUP CALLED CHOICE (THE TERRIFIC SINGLE "SOME PEOPLE" WAS THEIR BEST) AND THEN A RE-VAMPED STARBUCK IN 1983 (I LOVED THE TRACK "THE FULL CLEVELAND"). AN AMERICAN TREASURE!!!!

I remember this song ... but probably haven't heard it one time since 1976!  oldies stations only pay the same 100 songs over and over - dig a little deeper in the vault, please!
