Simple Minds' album Sons and Fascination Sister Feelings Call is a masterpiece of post-punk music. Released in 1981, the album features some of the band's most iconic songs, such as "The American" and "Love Song." The album's sound is characterized by its atmospheric, ethereal quality, which is achieved through a combination of soaring synths, driving bass lines, and Jim Kerr's haunting vocals.
The album is split into two distinct parts, with Sons and Fascination comprising the first half of the record, and Sister Feelings Call making up the second half. Each part has its own unique sound and feel, with Sons and Fascination being more upbeat and energetic, and Sister Feelings Call being more introspective and atmospheric.

I got this album when I was 18 years old and it nailed something deep inside me at the time. I am still moved by this music almost 40 years later.

So tired of idiot snobs who dismiss all of their later works. This is an amazing album, no doubt. And that bass is to die for. But check out Big Music Delux version from 2014 and tell me which other band can put out such an incredibly gorgeous album almost 37 years after their first album.
I was a teenager and spent all my lawn-cutting money on this record, Sister Feelings Call, Empires and Dance, and the Celebration compilation at a second-hand record shop.

Egad do I feel like a relic of the past century! That doesn't change the fact that these guys can still move me. I loved them tremendously back in the 80s & 90s. Listening to them takes me back to days of yore.

It flashes upon my mind that the chorus '' Ma son, warm land, semi monde '' is an invevitable reference to the elite world... '' Eyes Wide Shut '' remains in a corner of my mind. '' Casino '' too... Las Vegas this a hot luxuriant fertile world including the lure of gain, violence in fireworks and the colored collapse of empire. I think Simple Minds tried to decipher something alarming and crucial in their early creations. I mean Jim Kerr had those sharpened eyes, he tried in a blatant way to shed light on the connections between transitions through lightning decades marked by the fervous of great cities and spectrum of the secret societies over them, through them...
