Review by Brian Steffen

Leise Flehen Meine Lieder is a beautiful album featuring some of the most renowned classical musicians of all time. Schubert's compositions are brought to life by the exceptional voices of Gundula Janowitz, Christa Ludwig, Rita Streich, Dietrich FischerDieskau, Peter Schreier, and Fritz Wunderlich.

The album showcases the versatility of Schubert's music, with each track evoking a different emotion and mood. From the hauntingly beautiful "Der Tod und das Mädchen" to the uplifting "An die Musik," the album is a testament to Schubert's genius.

The vocal performances are simply breathtaking, with each singer bringing their unique style and interpretation to the music. Janowitz's delicate soprano, Ludwig's powerful mezzo-soprano, Streich's crystal-clear coloratura, FischerDieskau's rich baritone, Schreier's sweet tenor, and Wunderlich's warm lyric tenor all blend together seamlessly.

The accompaniment, provided by the Wiener Philharmoniker and conducted by Karl Böhm, is equally impressive. The orchestra's sensitive playing perfectly complements the singers, creating a cohesive and harmonious sound.
