Royal Canoe - Peep This

Review by Phil Hoyt

Peep This, the third album by Royal Canoe, is a sonic masterpiece that showcases the band's versatility and creativity. From the opening track, "Living a Lie," the album takes listeners on a journey through a variety of genres, including indie rock, electronic, and pop.

The album is filled with catchy hooks and infectious beats, but what sets Peep This apart from other pop albums is the depth of the lyrics. Each song tells a story, and the band's ability to blend intricate instrumentation with thoughtful lyrics is impressive.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Walk Out on the Water," which features a driving beat and soaring vocals. The song builds to a crescendo, with the lyrics "I'm walking out on the water, I'm walking out on the sea" serving as a powerful metaphor for overcoming adversity.

Another standout track is "77-76," which features a funky bassline and a catchy chorus. The song is a nod to the band's hometown of Winnipeg, and the lyrics paint a vivid picture of the city's gritty charm.
