Review by Mario Amelotti

Beneath A Western Sky by Piero Piccioni is a musical masterpiece that captures the essence of the Western genre. The album features a blend of orchestral arrangements, guitar riffs, and harmonica solos that transport the listener to the Wild West. The album has been praised for its ability to evoke images of dusty plains, rugged landscapes, and cowboy culture.

The album opens with the track "Beneath A Western Sky," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The track features a soaring orchestral arrangement that is reminiscent of classic Western films. The album then moves into the track "Riding The Wind," which features a lively guitar riff and a catchy melody that is sure to get stuck in your head.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Gunfighter's Lament." The track features a haunting harmonica solo that perfectly captures the loneliness and sadness of a gunfighter's life. The album also features tracks like "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," which pays homage to the classic Western film of the same name.

Fantastic, I don't know if you know this, Lydia was born in Scotland but was half Italian, she sang with Ted Heath's band in in the UK briefly c1949 but found the touring too much & left after only a year or so & retired.

She was coaxed out of retirement to make one album for Decca in 1957 again with Ted Heath band but I think its poor as Lydia sings old Scottish songs jazzed up.

I then understand a few years later she moved to Italy & this is where she really shines with songs like this.

Many thanks for posting.
