If Dizzy Gillespy did some trumpet improv here it would have sounded a lot like "Manteca".
Reminds me of Captain Ron !
Recorded: March 7, 1950.
The release of this version was certainly 1950 - this was after 45 RPM catalogue numbers were conformed to the 78 RPM releases.
I was going to comment on Mr. Bega using Mr. Prado's 1960 re-recording (actually, technically the remake was recorded in late 1959 as the LP in question had K2PP- and K2PY- matrix prefices) for his "Big Hits By Prado" album, but 'Marcelo G.' beat me to it.

Reminds me of the opening theme song to The Blob. Uncredited influence or am I hearing things?
A good song later ruined by awful lyrics. I'm glad to have found out about the original eventually.
Revolutionary dance tune for it's day. Lou Bega brought it back to another level for it's day.
But this original is better. For best results use RCA Victor Needles.

*The Perez Prado recording used by Lou Vega as a backing track is a 1960 version recorded by Perez Prado and his orchestra for RCA Victor and released that same year in the album "Big Hits by Prado," in which Prado presented his greatest hits with new arrangements* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wlnkTQdUW4
