I was only 10 years old when this came out, OMG it feels like yesterday, but guess what I am now 58 so it was 48 years ago.
I was in the 4th grade, we lived in Glenview...in Cook County Illinois just minutes from Chicago.
Some of the boys in my class put together a group and 'sang' this song for a school talent show.
I can see them.
What happened? It all went by so fast ?

Wow paper lace the night Chicago died is in a opinion is fantastic classic rock and roll song. And plus the song did indeed reach number one on the billboard hot one hundred pop charts in nineteen seventy four so congratulations you guys. You definitely deserve this number one hit song one hundred percent!
This song should be dedicated to Steve Wilkos
Paper Lace also had a version of Billy Don"t Be a Hero which was a big hit in Europe but Bo Donaldson and the Heywords Version was the BIG U.S. hit #1 a couple of months earlier.
Thank you, Bob Pinciotti.
My brother just sent this to me, I had this song on a 45 record as a teenager. I am so happy I grew up during this time period
I had the single when I was like 8 or 9. Always loved it, though I didn't realize it was mostly fictional until I was much older.
Imádom ezt a számot.

I know I'm nitpicking, but the "East Side" of Chicago means you're floating in Lake Michigan.

That's when the cops were the good guys. I was in D.C. getting divorced and made first contact with the VSDC.

I was only a kid when this came out. I had an uncle who was a DJ at a local radio station and he would play this song any time I asked.
I was born,
23rd of September 1974, apparently this was the number 1 song in Australia at that time.
