Review by Alexander Haase

Live Insubordination Fest 09 by Pansy Division is a raucous and energetic album that captures the spirit of the band's live performances. The album features recordings from Pansy Division's performance at the Insubordination Fest in Baltimore, Maryland in 2009, and showcases the band's punk rock roots and irreverent sense of humor.

The album is a mix of classic Pansy Division tracks, such as "Anthem" and "Dick Of Death," as well as newer songs like "Average Men" and "That's So Gay." The band's performance is tight and energetic, with frontman Jon Ginoli's vocals leading the charge.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "I'm Gonna Be A Slut," a catchy and irreverent anthem that is sure to get stuck in your head. The band's cover of The Ramones' "Rockaway Beach" is also a highlight, with Pansy Division putting their own spin on the classic track.

About Pansy Division

Pansy Division is an American rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1991 by singer-songwriter Jon Ginoli and bassist Chris Freeman. Conceived as the first openly gay rock band featuring predominantly gay musicians, Pansy Division's music, a mix of pop punk and power pop, focuses mainly on LGBT issues, sex and relationships, often presented in a humorous light. In 1993, the band signed to punk label Lookout! Records and received international notoriety touring with Green Day in 1994, becoming the most commercially successful band of the queercore movement which began in the 1980s. Pansy Division have released seven studio albums and three B-side compilations, among other recordings. In 2008, the band were the subject of the documentary film entitled Pansy Division: Life in a Gay Rock Band.
