Review by Jon Oaks

Osie Johnson And His Combos In Johnsons Whacks is a delightful album that showcases the musical prowess of Osie Johnson. The album features a collection of jazz standards that are played with the utmost skill and finesse by Johnson and his band.

The first thing that stands out about this album is the quality of the musicianship. Johnson is a master drummer who knows how to keep the beat and drive the music forward. His bandmates are equally talented, and together they create a sound that is both cohesive and dynamic.

The album's standout tracks include "Take the A Train," "I Can't Get Started," and "Stompin' at the Savoy." Each of these songs is given a fresh interpretation by Johnson and his band, with new arrangements and solos that keep the listener engaged.
