Orphanage - Druid

Review by Becky Derham

Druid is the fourth studio album by the Gothic metal band Orphanage. Released in 2002, the album features a blend of heavy riffs, melodic vocals, and symphonic elements that define the band's signature sound. The album's themes revolve around nature, spirituality, and the human condition.

The album opens with "The Dark Side", a powerful track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The heavy guitar riffs and haunting vocals create a sense of foreboding, while the symphonic elements add a touch of grandeur. "Deceiver" and "Ender's Game" are equally impressive, showcasing the band's ability to balance aggression and melody.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "At the Mountains of Madness", which features guest vocals from Liv Kristine of Leaves' Eyes. The duet between Kristine and Orphanage vocalist George Oosthoek is a highlight of the album, with both singers delivering emotive performances. The song's lyrics, inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name, add an eerie atmosphere to the track.

Another standout track is "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward", which features a spoken-word introduction that sets the scene for the song's Lovecraftian tale. The song's chorus is catchy and memorable, with Oosthoek's vocals soaring over the heavy guitar riffs.

This song is Victim Of Fear, not Veils Of Blood. Other than that, thanks for the upload. :)
