About Ollie & The Nightingales
Ollie & The Nightingales began as a gospel group called the Gospel Writer Juniors. After recording for the Pepper label, they changed their name to the Dixie Nightingles, and recorded material for Nashboro and Records gospel subsidiary Chalice; before being convinced to sing secular R&B, and changing their name to Ollie & The Nightingales.
(Group member Willie Neal left when they made the switch from gospel to R&B; and was replaced by former and member Quincy Billops)

Comments
I was just watching "Maverick" and now I know where Issac Hayes and David Porter got the inspiration for that opening horn part The Memphis Horns played. That part really starts the song off right. RIP Issac Hayes and Ollie Hoskins
Great song by a very underrated group. You wouldn't happen to have a song by these cats entitled "Don't Let A Good Thing Go"? It might be their best song. It was written by the great Sir Mack Rice.
