Review by Carlos Molina

The album Helles Licht in dunkler Zeit Auf den Wegen der Heiligen Elisabeth von Thüringen by Musik Kurt Grahl, Text ClausPeter März, Sopran Kristina Grahl, Flöte Kerstin Gleitsmann, Kontrabass Robert Grahl, Kantorei der Elisabethkirche Marburg, Orgel, Cembalo und Leitung Jochen Kaiser is a beautiful and moving tribute to the life and legacy of Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia. The music is expertly composed and performed, with each instrument and voice blending seamlessly together to create a truly immersive and emotional listening experience.

Kristina Grahl's soprano vocals are particularly stunning, soaring above the other instruments and filling the listener with a sense of awe and wonder. The flute and kontrabass add depth and richness to the sound, while the Kantorei der Elisabethkirche Marburg provides a powerful and stirring choral presence.

The album's themes of faith, hope, and love are beautifully expressed through the lyrics and music, with each track telling a different aspect of Saint Elizabeth's story. From the gentle and contemplative "In der Stille" to the uplifting and joyful "Lobet und preiset," each song offers a unique perspective on this remarkable saint's life and legacy.

Notes

  • The music was recorded in the Elisabethkirche (church of the holy Elisabeth) in Marburg a. d. Lahn (Germany, Hessie). The title means: "Bright Light in Dark Times" and concernes to the life of Elisabeth and the things she had done and for what she is now the "holy" Elisabeth. (sorry for my english)
  • There is no Code, Label, Company or anything else written on the cover. I think that it is e self-released disc but not illegal (the GEMA-sign is printed on the disc) I found the cover at google. The condition is better than "Near Mint" and the cover-condition is excellent, too.
  • P.S. I didn't found the names of the musicians in the discogs dadabase. There were a few nots on the cover: Prof. Dr. Claus-Peter März is born 1947 in Leipzig, is a member of the university of Erfurt (Theologie). Kurt Grohl is born in 1947 in Saxonia, is teacher and reverend in Leipzig. In 1968 he was the winner of "free improvisation" at the International J. S. Bach - Contest. The two other Grahls are children of him. Jochen Kaiser is the cantor and reverend at the Elisabethkirche in Marburg. He is member of the "Canterino Barock Marburg". Mrs. Gleitsmann is teacher at the "R. Schumann Konservatorium". They all studied music.
