The album Contentment Is Wealth by Matt Molloy and Sean Keane is a beautiful collection of traditional Irish tunes that transports the listener to the rolling green hills of the Emerald Isle. Molloy and Keane are both renowned musicians in their own right, and their collaboration on this album is a true testament to their skill and artistry.
From the opening notes of the first track, "The Trip to Cullenstown," the listener is swept up in a whirlwind of fiddles and flutes, with Molloy and Keane playing off each other in perfect harmony. The album features a mix of lively jigs and reels, as well as slower, more contemplative pieces such as "The Green Fields of America" and "The Lament for Staker Wallace."
One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Blackbird," a hauntingly beautiful tune that showcases Molloy's virtuosity on the flute. Keane's fiddle playing is equally impressive, particularly on tracks like "The Drunken Landlady" and "The Lark in the Morning."
