@retrovintageboy I remember Hero's with Stuffed Olives bar next door (used to be Bernard's Bar before that). Hero's was definitely the place to be 1980 through to 1983 - managed by Phil Clegg and Big Bill on the door. I think in 1983 a lot of people switched to High Society on Princess Street but yes I have many memories of Hero's when I was a young lad.

Thanks for remembering. There was also The Exit, formerly I think called Slingsby's. In 1983 it all started to collapse with High Society paving the way for the Canal Street area. Dickens on Oldham Street (I think) was another one which closed around 1981. Also The Apartment 38, very swish with soundproofed bar area, originally intended like High Society for the jet set.

Nothing to compare with Hero's on John Dalton St, Manchester before it was altered to look like a gym. If its not broke don't fix it. This place surely paved the way for places like the Archway and played some brilliant music just before "hi energy" started to creep in-Jean Carne's "Was that all it was" Nancy Novas "Force" although "No Regrets" is one of the best Hi Energy offerings, i have fished it out and keep playing it over and over-on vinyl of course

@oldhampride I remember the Archway. I have never been in a club where the music was soooooooo fucking loud! I used to get temporary hearing problems on Sundays after a wild poppers-filled night at the Archway!

I Love this tune! I have this tune, as I have almost every Power Record & many promos on Power that were ever released because of Vince DiGiorgio, Peter Frost (RIP) and DJing in Toronto. I haven't played this for ages & it's bring back so many great memories :-) ♥♪☮
