Lirico Coloratura is a stunning album from the legendary soprano Maria Callas. The album features a selection of arias from some of the greatest operas of all time, showcasing Callas' incredible vocal range and emotional depth.
From the hauntingly beautiful "Casta Diva" from Norma to the dramatic "Sempre Libera" from La Traviata, Callas brings each piece to life with her signature intensity and passion. It's weird - she had no trouble sustaining high notes if they were in long phrases, but struggled if it was at the end. Psychological, maybe, or just a bad habit she formed?

I am absolutely convinced that the new Warner remasters of Callas' (recordings (which I assume this is) have put a much more flattering complexion on her voice than the original EMI pressings did. This makes me very happy. She sounds much better here than she did on the EMI counterparts of the same recordings, which makes me question the competence of the original EMI recording engineers. Notwithstanding a couple of wayward top notes here and there, there is a vast improvement in the sound of the Callas recorded voice here. The only thing that makes me sad is that La Divina was only 38 years old when these arias were recorded.
