Yesss.
I used to watch this with my Dad over and over from a VHS tape we bought in the 80s. The sound and footage made you feel as if you were at the show. This brought back so many good memories playing this tape on a Saturday night with my Pop, as if we were going to the show. Very grateful you posted this. Thank you.
What a great artist. This song is from 1946. Way ahead of his time. This guy knew how to jam!!!!!!!
No ego. Just plain ole fun!!

Genius.
Genius
I used to sing this song under a turned over canoe in the water at sleepaway camp.
I like the music of Lionel Hampton. His way of playing the vibraphone has no comparison.
Nostalgie !!
Where are those people from the audience now....music knows no boundary!
fucking awesome
Hamp was my great friend since 1956. I played with Hamp 1 x 1956 and ca 1980..
is that FREDDIE HUBBARD on trumpet ? goodness me......
oh,i see below someone suggests,Clark Terry . . pure class, either way . The apparent dislocation between jazz and rock'roll healed in a night of joy.

Is that Teddy Wilson at the piano? I enjoyed this clip very much.... it shouldn't be forgotten that the old Playboy magazines was so much more than centerfolds, it also patroned jazz music
