Norwegian progressive/avant-garde metal band from founded in 2001 in Notodden, Norway by singer and keyboardist and guitarist .
After releasing two demos with relatively unstable lineups, the band released their first studio album, Tall Poppy Syndrome, in 2009, which mixed progressive metal and progressive rock styles, but encompasses a wide array of influences and sounds. They subsequently gained prominence as the live backing band of (who is Solberg's brother-in-law), who, in turn, contributed on several Leprous records as guest singer or producer. In 2011 Leprous released Bilateral, followed two years later with Coal, which defines a new experimental direction for the band, developed with The Congregation (2015). In 2017 Leprous took a more rock-oriented and less metal approach with Malina (2017), their first record not to feature harsh vocals. Two years later they released Pitfalls, more electronic/symphonic-oriented.
