Review by Drone Nme

The album Oratorio De Noël by JS Bach, Elly Ameling, Helen Watts, Peter Pears, Tom Krause, Manécanterie De Lubeck, HansJürgen Wille, Orchestre De Chambre De Stuttgart, Karl Münchinger is a stunning masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of Bach's music. The album features a range of vocal performances from the soloists, choir, and orchestra, each of whom delivers a sublime performance that captures the essence of the music.

Elly Ameling's soprano voice is pure and angelic, while Helen Watts' mezzo-soprano voice is rich and resonant. Peter Pears' tenor voice is clear and expressive, and Tom Krause's bass voice is deep and powerful. Together, the four soloists create a beautiful harmony that is both ethereal and grounded.

The Manécanterie De Lubeck choir is outstanding, with their voices blending seamlessly and creating a warm and inviting sound. The orchestra, led by Karl Münchinger, is equally impressive, with each instrument adding depth and texture to the music.

The album is divided into six parts, each of which tells a different part of the Christmas story. From the joyful opening chorus to the triumphant final chorus, the music is uplifting and inspiring, capturing the essence of the Christmas spirit.

About JS Bach, Elly Ameling, Helen Watts, Peter Pears, Tom Krause, Manécanterie De Lubeck, HansJürgen Wille, Orchestre De Chambre De Stuttgart, Karl Münchinger

Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany. A prolific German composer and organist, his sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments drew together the strands of the baroque genre and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Although he introduced no new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal technique, a control of harmonic and motivic organisation from the smallest to the largest scales, and the adaptation of rhythms and textures from abroad, particularly Italy and France. Many people consider him to be the greatest Baroque composer, and one of the greatest composers of all time. Revered for their intellectual depth, technical command and artistic beauty, J.S. Bach's works include the Brandenburg concertos, the keyboard suites and partitas, the Mass in B Minor, the St. Matthew Passion, The Musical Offering, The Art of Fugue and a large number of cantatas, of which about 220 survive. He died on July 28, 1750. Some of his sons also became composers - , , and .
