Journey - Open Arms

Review by Leonardo Souza

Open Arms by Journey is a classic rock album that has stood the test of time. Featuring some of the band's most iconic songs, this album is a must-listen for any rock music fan. From the soaring vocals of Steve Perry to the impressive guitar solos of Neal Schon, every track on this album is a masterpiece.

The album opens with the hit song "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," a fast-paced rock anthem that showcases the band's signature sound. This is followed by the title track "Open Arms," a beautiful ballad that is still a favorite at weddings and other special events. Other standout tracks include "Stone in Love," "Who's Crying Now," and "Don't Stop Believin'," which has become an anthem for generations of music fans.

Wow, that outro is breathtaking. The band might have ramped up their commercial ambitions in '78, but that doesn't mean they weren't still capable of magnificent pop music.

I had this album, and I didn’t know they were prog until I listened to this. Wasn’t crazy about this album, but this is such a beautiful song. Steve Perry can sing anything, from rock to prog!

I am a lifetime Journey fan. In 1982 I was in college at Oklahoma State, was having a meal at Pizza Hut and played the flip side of a 45 by Journey and played this song. I had never heard it since it was made for a Japanese Movie. Most of the songs on that album are just instrumental. I instantly started looking for the album and eventually found it. Beautiful beautiful music.

4:48 on should've been its own song.

I'm not sure if this really was the last album to feature Gregg Rolie (Or if it was actually Departure) but if it were, it almost seems haunting how fitting the song ends in relativity to his tenure in the band.
