Chasing the Dragon, the fourth solo album by John Wetton, is a masterpiece of progressive rock music. Released in 1994, the album showcases Wetton's exceptional songwriting and vocal abilities, as well as his prowess on the bass guitar.
The album opens with the powerful "Don't Cry," a track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song's soaring chorus and emotive lyrics are a perfect showcase for Wetton's vocal range and his ability to convey emotion through his singing.
Other standout tracks on the album include "Battle Lines," a hard-hitting rock anthem that features a blistering guitar solo by Steve Lukather, and "You're Not the Only One," a haunting ballad that showcases Wetton's softer side.
Throughout the album, Wetton's bass playing is front and center, driving the songs forward with his signature style. His playing is particularly impressive on the instrumental track "The Last Thing on My Mind," where he takes center stage with a virtuosic solo.
