Review by Joy Feemster

Jimmie Driftwood's album, The Battle Of New Orleans Damyankee Lad, is a compelling collection of songs that tell the story of the historic battle in a unique way. The album features Driftwood's signature storytelling style, accompanied by his acoustic guitar and authentic Southern drawl.

The title track, "The Battle Of New Orleans Damyankee Lad," is a standout on the album, with its catchy melody and vivid lyrics that transport the listener back to the 19th century. Driftwood's storytelling ability shines on tracks such as "The Arkansas Traveler" and "The Legend Of John Henry," which are filled with folklore and Americana.

The album's production is simple and understated, allowing Driftwood's voice and guitar to take center stage. The result is an album that feels intimate and personal, as if Driftwood is sitting in the listener's living room, sharing these stories with them.

??? Also known as Trollin' from the grave. That would have been a rather interesting scene at a funeral.

Oh man this is nostalgia the song. For some reason my folks played it a lot when I was a little kid. Back then it was on vinyl.

I'm so glad I discovered Jimmy Driftwood after a magical campire where a man played & sang some of his songs to a group of friends. Thank you BJ the DJ!

I tend to think Sherman should be at least on the short list of our "greatest military leader." War is not a game, and it must be ended rapidly which is what he wanted. He was no saint though, being racist himself. I also think Pete Longstreet was one of our greatest military leaders.
