Review by Fernando Gabriel Gutiérrez

George Lewis In Concert is a live album that showcases the incredible talent of jazz clarinetist George Lewis. Recorded in 1954 at San Francisco's Hangover Club, the album captures Lewis and his band in full swing as they perform a selection of traditional jazz tunes.

The album opens with the upbeat and lively "Ice Cream" before moving into a smooth rendition of "St. Louis Blues." Lewis' clarinet playing is exceptional throughout the album, with his virtuosic runs and rich tone shining on every track.

The band is tight and cohesive, with each member contributing to the overall sound. Pianist Joe Robichaux provides a solid foundation for the group, while drummer Joe Watkins keeps the rhythm driving forward.

One standout track is the mournful "Careless Love," which showcases Lewis' ability to convey emotion through his playing. The band's interpretation of "High Society" is another highlight, with a bouncy, upbeat rhythm that is sure to get listeners tapping their feet.
