This is what turned me on to Genesis.. even though it was a mish-mash of their early songs,, Gabriel's voice.. the flow.. the melodic rhythms.. it was actually the first I ever heard of them.. and what a journey through changes it was over the next 2 decades .. well worth it

I'm 71 years old and never knew Genesis even performed in the sixties. I am no music novice. I have lost / had stolen etc. more vinyl than most people have today. I have 8-Tracks, Reel-to-reel, cassettes and CDs and gear to play it all on, yet I never even heard of this album. It is great and I plan to go over to Discogs to but, or eBay, depending on prices / condition. Thank you and God Bless you for putting this out here to listen to. Jonathan king was the man who signed up genesis to decca records mostly on the basis of peter gabriel voice, but this album, the very first album by genesis, reveals there was more to this band than gabriel's voice, i actually prefer this album over trespass and nursery cryme, but genesis became a great band only after the album foxtrot, in second thought, peter gabriel's vocals stand out, thanks for sharing.
For the first couple of songs I was thinking "this is fine but they haven't really found their sound yet" then In The Beginning came on and I was like "oh - there it is!"

In the Begining and some of the other songs remind me of the band Family circa 1967/68.
