About The Four Pennies The Merseybeats
The Four Pennies were a 1960s English pop group. They were the most important UK group not to chart in America during the 1960s British Invasion, since "Juliet" was the only 1964 #1 by a UK group not to chart in America.
Band members:
Lionel Morton (vocalist/rhythm guitarist)
Fritz Fryer (lead guitarist)
Alan Buck (drummer)
Mike Wilsh (bassist/keyboardist/backing vocalist)
Late 1965 to early 1966, Fryer left the band and was replaced by David Graham (guitarist). Graham left when Fryer returned to the line-up. Ray Monk substituted on rare occasions.n

Doesn't this song transport your mind's memory straight back to when and where you were when it was a top ten hit?
I loved this song....and still do
I think of you x
Ahh ? ??
Sounds nothing like the original, try this track https://youtu.be/tp3FjN6v_3g
Peter Appleton ex pat scouser Adelaide 1977
could just get up in a music bar and cover this
on a Telecaster and be like a woman magnet !
He had the authentic natural accent and looks.
A charisma and it was uncanny to observe !
Pete had played on the Mersey circuit and was an
amateur boxer who told me when his mother died
he went and put his father in hospital then went to
Australia I knew him when he was aged 33 in 1977
so in his 20's he was an Everton born 60's musician !
He played with Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas.
It was good being his mate he sorted me out and
often out of my depth because I was only 20 going
back to some apartment with a bar and an "aunty"
Lots of laughs and Pete was a handy "minder" too.
A homesick scouser Pete was an older brother figure
that time and I went on a mad year long lost weekend
some people thought I was his actual younger brother.
Just clubs bars parties money from nowhere and women
gigs and cabarets lived at night and slept in the day (a bit)
banged up in cells once or twice and can't remember why
but Pete bailed me out at least twice he was very charming
Christmas eve 1977 I got punched and bloody nosed and
at the break Pete came off stage and knocked the guy out
I always had clothes in my car got cleaned up changed and
partied on from club and after party until Christmas dinner.
Somewhere some well off cracking looking woman's house
I was living on bourbon and coke and marijuana and "speed"
And driving regardless and forgetting where I had parked
[Quote] Pete" "where''s the Rolls and me f____ gear's in it ?
I had a big old Holden that would pull a house down put
his amps in the boot guitars in the back mic stand cables
I drove him and his gear around and he paid me and lived
in a big house he rented but was hardly there it was cool,
He could knock this song out perfectly licks and all or do
Needles and Pins and Get Back and Till There Was You etc
an unforgettable slowed down solo ballad of "All My Loving"
Hey Jude and many more sometimes solo other with bands.
And always sang after parties surrounded by lovely women.
My mate scouse Pete Adelaide Australia 1977-78

This is a re-recording,the 60s original is far better than this.
One of the great bands to come out of( Liverpool) fantastic music.
Love the songs the groups how handsome the lads look we were blessed to be part of this fantastic era
Not the original hit recording.
