About Finitribe
Production team from Edinburgh, Scotland. Originally a post-punk group called Fini Tribe fronted by vocalist Chris Connelly, they acquired a sampler and moved in an experimental post-industrial direction. The Let The Tribe Grow EP featured the track 'De Testimony', which became an anthem for the original Balearic scene.
Three members left after a tour in 1988, including Connelly who moved to the States and joined and .
The slimmed down group amended their name to Finitribe and gradually moved to more of a techno/electro sound. After 1995's 'Sheigra' John Vinsky also left, Miller & Pinsky released one more Album before the group faded out after one last EP issued in 2001.
For a spell, they ran the Coup nightclub in Edinburgh.

Does anyone have the lyrics?
Haven't heard this since the '80s but remember it well. Couldn't remember the name but thought it might have been on Cathexis records.

Just listening to a lot of these ancient 80's sampling/cut-up records. God, you really get sick of the 8 times table after a while.

The bells! The Bells! Fucking QUALITY Indeed!
I was beside myself if I was waiting to get into TheFuture and this was playing and I wasn't able to boogie, suppose it served me right for not leaving Surrey until after Cell Block H had finished! Thursdays were the best !
@bkse2309 Not really the same time. I think it came out circa 86, acid house was a couple of years later. I was really into bands like 23 Skido, 400 blows, Test Dept, Cabaret Votaire etc. before acid house ...that's what made house so applicable to a wide audience...it wasn't impossible for a heavy industrialist, crusty, raggamuffin, northern souler to connect the dots from their preference to acid house and end up dancing side by side...Doesn't happen often, a priveledge to have lived!
God I love this track - came out around the same time as the acid house movement but from a very different place. Became a Balearic Choon of the day and was even ripped off blatantly in a less out-there rip off. Guess that's what you get if you Dance With The Devil.
Strange but true, my Wardrobe used to belong to one of Test Dept., long story. Also was staying in Chris Connely's flat (Fini, Revolting Cocks etc.) when he had his dick pierced. Didn't look! Always loved the Cabs too. More to the point, your timeline is more accurate than mine, but it was a weird merging of musics and tribes back then. Perhaps the last shout of music and a certain type of politics existing together. Good times. Be happy.
