Fanfarlo - Reservoir And Bonus Tracks

Review by Shawn Hesketh

Fanfarlo's album Reservoir And Bonus Tracks is a masterpiece of indie rock. The album is a unique blend of catchy melodies, intricate instrumentation and heartfelt lyrics that make it a must-listen for any fan of the genre.

The album opens with the title track "Reservoir," a soaring anthem that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The song is filled with sweeping strings, pounding drums, and lead singer Simon Balthazar's distinctive vocals. The rest of the album is equally impressive, with standout tracks like "I'm a Pilot," "Ghosts," and "The Walls Are Coming Down."

The bonus tracks on this album are a welcome addition, adding even more depth and variety to an already impressive collection of songs. The standout among these is "Atlas," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases the band's ability to create emotional and powerful music.

They swallowed it whole, they went for the gold, for the gold
All for the same lies, we all have the same shoes to fill
The preachers and books of your Empire fight here alone
Some day they will be forgotten and die one by one
The Walls, the Walls are coming down
The Here and Now is coming 'round
It'll someday let you down
The Ships, the Ships are coming in
The Great Ideas are wearing thin
And there is nothing left to do
For atoms have gone as far as atoms will go
Your books write themselves
They line up in row after row
The Walls, the Walls are coming down
The Here and Now is coming 'round
It'll someday let you down
The Ships, the Ships are coming in
The great ideas are wearing thin
And there is nothing left to do.........
The Walls, the Walls are coming down
The Here and Now is coming 'round
It'll someday let you down
The Ships, the Ships are coming in
The Great Ideas are wearing thin
And there is nothing left to do

Some songs just demand to be listened to with headphones on for the true experience possible. Don't get me wrong, overall one of my favorite songs ever. But I listened to it while doing chores the other day without headphones, and listening with headphones is about 100x better.

oh please. just because they both use brass instruments, doesn't make them sound the same!
Beirut lays heavily on Zach Condon's vocals, it's almost an instrument, that's why you don't really find clear lyrics on Beirut. AND I LOVE THEM BOTH.

Just rediscovered this song. Still love it. Seems like a lifetime ago I was hanging by my feet in that straitjacket though. Crazy times.
