Love it. Why isn't it on CD?
Loved Spike as I child, but I would have been too young to appreciate this band. Discovering it now at 53! Thanks for uploading :0)
does anyone know if they're still alive and going? the lead vocalist was called william bealby-wright, and i believe his wife is/was the violinist, called susan baker.
Not bad a Bit like Vivian Stanshall.
Remember hearing them live on John Peels "Sounds of the 70s". Excellent number called "A Shropshire Lad" (A Betjeman Poem) set to their quirky music. Sadly never recorded - I've searched for many years.
The best song
Heard this, probably this performance, over 40 years ago and it's stuck in my head ever since. Marvellous to hear it again.
...Pure genius, and you still can't get the albums on CD...
Thanks for uploading this- very interesting. I love their two LPs.
This clip brings back wonderful memories. I worked on the show and fell in love with the rhythm, poetry and music of this group.
The composer Jim Parker is seen here playing the cor anglais. His award-winning compositions, musical scores and TV themes range from mischievously funny to truly haunting. His collaboration with John Betjeman was pure genius. Mr Skillicorn is a strange piece - one you can't quite get out of your ears.

I had no idea this clip existed! Bought their LPs years ago - still treasure them. Many thanks for posting this video.
Wow. I've been trying to track this down ever since I first saw it 36 years ago. Brilliant name, great work. Many many thanks.
Long been a fan of Silver Faces but hadn't seen him until now.Too observant to have been wildly popular.
Oh that was brill! Me and my bro use to love this when we were but knee high to a grasshopper! I've since managed to get hold of both lps again, never thought I'd get to see a live performance. Many thanks!
wow, big thank you for uploading this..
Thank you posting this. I bought Silver Faces after seeing them on TV way back.
