Review by Arierom Herege

The album Montreux Jazz Festival by Dizzy Gillespie and Roy Eldridge is a must-have for any jazz enthusiast. The album features live recordings from the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1975 and 1977, showcasing the incredible talent and energy of these two legendary trumpeters.

The album kicks off with the lively and upbeat "Algo Bueno," setting the tone for the rest of the performance. Throughout the album, Gillespie and Eldridge display their mastery of their instruments, playing with precision and creativity. The chemistry between the two musicians is palpable, as they trade solos and harmonize together seamlessly.

One standout track is "St. Louis Blues," where Eldridge's soulful playing is matched by Gillespie's virtuosic runs. The two also pay tribute to their influences with a rendition of Louis Armstrong's "Struttin' with Some Barbecue."

The album ends on a high note with "Ooh-Shoo-Be-Doo-Be," a fast-paced and exhilarating piece that showcases the technical prowess of both Gillespie and Eldridge.
