Love him
Im too young for this, but i love it anyway. Its boss.
I remember a TV interview with the late Les Read who wrote and produced most of the hits that Des had in the late 60s. Despite the lack of recognition as a singer Les reminded us all the he had a number one hit in 1968 with I Pretend that kept the Beatles and other top artists off the top spot. The lads off the kop who spontaneously burst into song after a howler by Gary Sprake in 1967 would be hard pressed to cite a current so- called hit to chant or sing in a game. Even Sweet Caroline now a football anthem is from the charts of 1970 which sums up the sorry state of pop music today.
Des O'Connor was an all time great singer and entertainer from the magical 1960s

Good
R.I.P. Des O`Connor, this is my all-time favourite song and you`re still the greatest entertainer especially you`re great on Countdown, when Carol Vorderman give him a nickname called him Des O`, which make me happy, and you`re still the best entertainer as well as my all round entertainer- Bruce Forsyth, both sadly missed now.
I was brought up with Des O'connor from the 65 /onwards xxx
Far better than the Bing Crosby version.
