Flower Drum Song, the 1958 musical comedy by composer Cy Coleman, has been reimagined in a new album that brings a fresh perspective to the classic show. The album features a star-studded cast of Broadway performers, including Lea Salonga, J. Elaine Marcos, and Jose Llana, who bring their own unique interpretations to the beloved songs.
The album captures the vibrant energy and charm of the original show while also infusing it with a contemporary flair. The arrangements are updated with modern instrumentation, and the vocals are infused with a sense of spontaneity and improvisation that makes the songs feel fresh and alive.

This gentleman and Henry MANCINI are the only two composers I have heard who take an interest in recording other composers work thanks for posting ❤️
To me this show has always been special not only because I share a birthday with it's producer Gene Kelly but because Love look away is one of Rogers and Hammerstein best songs also the song Sunday is simple and elegant the aforementioned love look away was written for the King and I but replaced by We Kiss in. A shadow I enjoy being a girl was written for South Pacific and was replaced by I'm in love with a wonderful guy probably at Mary Martin's request

I think there is a Sinatra recording of Coleman's "Witchcraft" with the Coleman trio backing him. (?) But did Cy Coleman ever make an album with jusy his own compositions ? He should have ! THanks for sharing this !
