The wonderful voice of Clyde McPhatter, what a joy he was. My day has been made
I heard this song for the first time yesterday, I always thought I heard all of moms golden oldies music. It’s a nice tune.
The test of time. 65 years later and this song still going strong. How many of todays songs will still be played in 2087 ?
The background voice is none other than
the late Brook Benton.... Good Song, the year was 1958. Many people may not know this, but Clyde McPhatter as did Elvis Presley, Lou Rawls, the Every Brother's Don & Phill and my Dad were ALL on active duty during the same time period....They were TRUE PATRIOTS!!

The first person to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as both an individual artist and part of a group (The Drifters). Died too young stemming from alcohol abuse due in a large part to lack of career management (he should have made much more given his talent level). When he left The Dominos, he was replaced by Jackie Wilson. Besides Jackie, his vocal style influenced many R&B powerhouses after him. Ironically many of The Drifters hits happened after he left that group. He certainly was a father of Rock and Roll and R&B. Like many great voices, such as Elvis, it all started in church with Gospel. When you sing from your soul, well, that gets to go to Heaven with you.
His voice ?
