Review by Tanja Gammer

Capital Radio is an album by the English punk rock band The Clash, released in 1977. The album features live recordings of the band's performances on London's Capital Radio, as well as some studio tracks. The album showcases the band's raw energy and their ability to captivate audiences with their punk anthems.

The album begins with a live version of "Listen," a song that perfectly captures the band's rebellious spirit. The live recordings of "Clash City Rockers" and "I'm So Bored with the USA" are also highlights of the album, showcasing the band's ability to create energetic and catchy punk rock songs.

The studio tracks on the album are equally impressive, with "Capital Radio One" and "Capital Radio Two" being standout tracks. These songs show the band's ability to experiment with different sounds and styles, and their willingness to push the boundaries of punk rock.

Notes

  • This is an older (late-70s to early-80s?) bootleg/counterfeit, almost certainly pressed in the US. Some differences versus the original:
  • Sleeve has curved top and is printed on a lighter/glossier stock.
  • Vinyl does not have a ridge around the label as commonly seen on Uk pressings of that time
  • The ring impressed on the label is smaller, overlapping the "Promotion Copy Not For Resale" text, unlike the original where the text is entirely inside the ring.
  • This edition was sold on the US market after the initial success there
  • Black/Green labels, otherwise identical with b&w label release.
  • Interviewd at the Circle Line
  • Copyright IPC Magazines/The Clash
  • The Capital Radio E.P. was a promotional record given away to readers who sent off the coupon printed in NME,
  • together with a red sticker found on the inside of the cover of the first 10,000 copies of The Clash's eponymous
  • album, which had been released that week; a week after their debut single, "White Riot", entered the UK Top 40.
  • Bootleg replica of the original on white vinyl.
  • Bootleg replica of the original on red vinyl.
