About The Carter Brothers
The Carter Bros., Roman, Jerry, and Albert, along with friend Jimmy 'Magoo' Carter (Morris) formed a band in high school in Southern California from where they had relocated from Alabama. They first recorded in 1958 and had a hit record (minus Jimmy Carter), Southern Country Boy, on Jewel Records in 1965 which reached a placing of twenty one on Billboards R&B chart. A number of similar sounding 45's were subsequently recorded for the Jewel label but by the mid 1960s their recording career was in hiatus. They continued to play local clubs in the Los Angeles area and took day jobs. In 1996, they reappeared on a Japanese label with new recordings of their old Jewel material which resulted in successful tours abroad. They received home acclaim for their appearance at the 2007 San Francisco Blues Festival and became regulars on the club circuit with a show that combines their gospel influence with blues and R&B. Jerry died in 2002 and Albert in 2012.

Hi . My name is Morris Lee Coleman Jr. Im the son of Morris Lee Coleman Sr. He was born In Texas as Lee Coleman . He called his self Duke Coleman and also Little Duke at the time he wrote many songs on the Carter Brothers records, He later changed his name to Morris Lee Coleman . I remember seeing the music sheets as I was young . He has expressed to me he wanted some type of recognition for his work . what can I do?
The guitarist is Albert Carter not Roman. He is the vocalist. What a powerhouse style he has. The first records had a fourth Carter, Jimmy in the ranks.
Thanks for keeping this part of Shreveport history alive.....///
