Brent Amaker and The Rodeo's latest album, "They Make Cowboys In Montana This Is The Gun," is a wild ride through the heart of honky-tonk country. The band's signature sound of twangy guitars, pounding drums, and Amaker's deep, resonant vocals is on full display here, and it's clear that they're firing on all cylinders.
From the opening track, "Man In Charge," to the closing ballad, "The End Of The World," every song on this album is a toe-tapping, head-bobbing delight. Amaker's lyrics are witty and clever, with plenty of references to classic western tropes and themes of love, loss, and redemption.
Standout tracks include the rollicking "I Don't Crawl," the slow-burning "The Devil's Rope," and the catchy-as-hell "Bury Me In My Boots." But really, there's not a weak track on the album - each one is a perfectly crafted slice of honky-tonk heaven.
