It was often heard playing in the outdoor market during the early episodes of EastEnders.
This tune has been constantly gnawing away at my brain ever since I caught it by accident when I was about 14: it was the wonderfully scratchy guitar solo that kept me listening.... Another earworm finally exorcised! Thanks ever so much for posting this!
I would say out of all the tunes used for TH gallery section this was the best and sadly only used for a short time
Magical part of early 80s childhood...
This tune was in the Gallery section of the 1980/81 seasons, but what's the name of the theme tune used from the 1980/81 seasons? It's a tune very similar to this with a same beat. I've got the tune on tape which I recorded off the telly all those years back, but would love to hear a clearer version.
RASTAFARI !
?
Such memories, wish those days would come back.
Never occurred to me to listen to it. I was just looking at the pictures .. But its rather fine. Bob, you a star Keep shinning .
Heard this in the background of Charlie Brooker's Antiviral Wipe on the 15th May 2020 (also 'Left Bank Two). My husband and I (both in our 50/60s) instantly gave each other that happy/sad look as our eyes welled up remembering simpler, happier times. We were so lucky to share our childhoods with Tony Hart. Good times.
As a child I watched this programme and fell in love with this exquisite tune, years later I became a muscian, this was in Belfast. A friend of mine married a girl called, Marguerite, she was beautiful but sadly passed away far too young. He asked me to play at her funeral so I googled her name, as I didn't know what to play but then this magical tune turned up. I learned it and played it at her funeral, not a dry eye in the place, including mine. Thank you, Mr. Bob Morgan and band.
Such a beautiful melody. I believe Bob wrote this in memory of his mother who died at an early age.
I used to record it on an old tape recorder every time it came on the TV hoping I would get the complete recording I managed to get it and I still have that tape.since those days I have now downloaded it fantastic oh I nearly forgot I wrote to the BBC take hart programme to ask them what the music is called and if I could get a copy they sent me a letter telling me the name and who to get in contact with but I never followed it up I can't remember why.
ive always loved this tune. like everyone else, it triggers memories of my youth. I loved watching the gallery sequence on take hart, thats where it's from. Thanks for the upload! !
I play this as my good night tune on a mainlyelctronic/techno /dnb channel, love the song so much, it is a throwback but the video makes me really happy too, thanks dude!
Like other comments on here, this brings me back to childhood. I knew this track in my head and could recite it at anytime. I actually thought it was more dub until hearing it again. Now I'm just listening to it again and again... The other commentators were right, it allows you to switch off and reminisce... Brilliant... Thanks you...
I have hummed this tune many, many times, and now I've finally found out what its called and the band. Thanks for playing it
