Great rendition!
Each time I see a crowd of people
Just like a fool I stop and stare
It's really not the proper thing to do
But maybe you'll be there
I go out walking after midnight
Along the lonely thoroughfare
It's not the time or place
To look for you
But maybe you'll be there
You said your arms would always hold me
You said you lips were mine alone to kiss
Now after all those things you told me
How can it end like this
Someday if all my prayers are answered
I'll hear a footstep on the stair
With anxious heart
I'll hurry to the door
And maybe you'll
Be there

Great song, stupid arrangement.
What happened to this crazy world today?? Maybe it's because we no longer have great music this anymore !!!
My favorite version of this song!!! Great stuff!! Just can't enough of this one!
Great Philly doo wop group. Back then it seemed every street corner in Philly had a group of guys harmonizing. Must have been that Frank's orange soda!
Great song also Rocket Ride !! Billy still sings on radio show today in NJ. Still sounds great
fantastic group - fantastic song
doo wop at its best
Great again
Maybe I'm wrong but does it seems like most good white groups s are italian
I was in a band with Pete Torres one of the Essentials
I was born and raised in Philly this was one of the best songs of all time doo wop wise. It’s a shame Billy Carlucci can’t sing a lick anymore his sister lives on my grandmas street in Glenolden. He doesn’t even look the same anymore times do change that’s for sure.
Still sounds great 50 years later.
It's a shame the kids growing up now will never have oldies 30, 40, 50 years from now like these fantastic Doo Wop sounds. Lee Andrews and the Hearts made a slower version, which was awesome too. They bring back so many memories of walking on the beach in Wildwood Crest. Beautiful memories...
I still have my original 45 EP vinyl of this song..just cleaned it up and resleeved it.
Classic recording of a song that goes back befire the doo wop era.
Billy and the Essentials are just another phenomenal thing to come out of Philly.

so many groups; some made it; many didn't; didn't mean they were bad; we were so spoiled!
I understand there is a version by The Four J's. Can't seem to find it on youtube, though. I always loved this one as a kid.
