Review by okuyazciz-e Haber

The Golden Era of Jazz by Billie Holiday is a timeless classic that showcases the legendary jazz singer's vocal prowess and emotional depth. The album features some of Holiday's most iconic tracks, including "God Bless the Child," "Strange Fruit," and "Lover Man." The album's production is simple yet effective, with the focus squarely on Holiday's voice and the jazz musicians accompanying her.

The album opens with "What a Little Moonlight Can Do," a joyful and upbeat track that perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the album. From there, the album takes a darker turn with "Strange Fruit," a haunting and powerful song about the lynching of black Americans in the South. Holiday's delivery of the song is nothing short of chilling, and it remains one of her most memorable performances to this day.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Lover Man," a sultry ballad that showcases Holiday's ability to convey raw emotion through her voice, and "God Bless the Child," a song that Holiday co-wrote with Arthur Herzog Jr. that has since become a jazz standard.
