I first heard this song on the radio in 1965 or 1966 while I was in college. I really loved it then and still love it today. I looked for the single but couldn't find it. I don't even know if it was available back then because I did look for it in the record stores in Dayton, Ohio. I've never forgotten the song and hoped to find it someday. It became something of a collector's item and has not been listed in any of Barbara Mandrell's hits. I was beginning to wonder if Barbara really came out with song until I saw it being sold online at $45 for the single as the B side with Queen For A Day on the A side. I wasn't going to pay that much for a song, but I was tempted to do so. I'm really glad to find it uploaded here and sounding like I remember it.
Barbara's first session. She cut this and the flip side QUEEN FOR A DAY .

A great bunch of singles on here....I'm just enjoying them a lot. Thanks Armadillo Killer.
Thanks for posting, this is the first time I heard it. Her voice does sound different. Smoking has definitely changed her voice, but she developed great style and vocal range.
OMG! Her voice without the strain and smoking....Sounds totally different!
This is the first time that I'm hearing this song. It came out before I was born. It sounds so good. I give it a thumbs-up. :-)
I'm not sure...it could be...
Thanks so much for posting this song. I couldn't find a version of it anywhere. I've read that there were two versions; the first being called a "sobbing" version by Barbara with Glen Campbell on guitar and a later remake. I didn't hear any sobbing on this version. Do you know if this is the version with Glen on guitar?
