Remarkably sublime, so heavenly the way Art and Ben play their instrument. America is so blessed for the contributions Black musicians made to the musical landscape.
Art Tatum was soloing through out the song....
Um…classic track. Good on ya. But…why did you cut off 2/3’s of the way through the track right in the middle of Arthur’s solo??? Really weird, Man.
Everyone do yourself a favor and check the entire recording.
And PLEASE. Don’t do this. It’s silly.
If you like saxophone or you like piano or you like kazoo and only want to post your favorite players solo, it better have a transcription attached. Otherwise, let it play out b/c… and this is paramount… while you may dig the one instrument, it took ALL the musicians on the session to get to that place.
Would anyone cut off the track after the Oboe player finished the intro on ‘Just Friends’ - Charlie Parker with Strings? C’mon… Let it ride.
If not for Art, let it ride for the person who will inevitably check this post 25 years from now.
If nothing else… have some respect for the recording engineers who spent time setting up microphones and twisted the knobs, the mastering engineers who leveled it off and the workers in the record plant who pressed the vinyl.
Jeez… I know this is YouTube and digital and the ‘future’ but let’s have some standards and respect.

Absolutely incredible!
Art Tatum plays like two different people intertwined.
What a musical genius!

What a musical genius!
No words are good enough for this...
the 9 thumbs down those muthafuckas are not listening correctly they’re SQUARES
Love both artists! Only thing is I wish Tatum had adapted more to Webster... The piano technique is incredible but it is overshadowing Webster’s solo... It sounds like Tatum is filling in too many gaps and the listener has no time for reflection... Of course Tatum is pure genius... Maybe it’s difficult for a genius to take more of a secondary role... Webster’s style is warm and vibrant and melancholy at the same time... Thank you for this upload!
this is some good music
Love the perfect tempo!
Two jazz legends. The greatest jazz pianist of all time and the immortal Ben Webster. RIP gentlemen
Stunning!!! Heard this on KKJZ and could hardly believe my ears! Ran to find it on You Tube! Thank you for posting!!!
good smooth and sweet sound.. great!
One of the most perfectly executed jazz pieces ever. Thank you!
what happened to the ending?
Des géants du JaZz…??
I feel so part of this tune it’s like perfection
This time of the year and all the time I wish you were here Grandpa Red. ❤️ I’ve learned so much from your spirit. Here’s some new music from your grandson Michael Callender. The Legacy is alive. The song is “Man in the Mirror” let’s make a change. https://youtu.be/3wbG9T6qluc
There are 88 pianokeys... and how he can use them ! Tatum rules..
This is one of my favourite albums of all time. I keep returning ito it. Art Tatum and Ben Webster are both very lyrical, but while Tatium played many notes, Wester played few making a gorgeous blend.
He was the best
Tatum learned from a player piano
What an intro, breathtaking...
